SVTC Technologies Names Jack Blaha Tech Services GM
SAN JOSE, Calif. —Sept. 10, 2007 — SVTC™ Technologies, the semiconductor and solar process-development foundry, has appointed Jack Blaha general manager of technology services. Blaha will help SVTC customers leverage reticle design services, technology characterization, reliability, engineering and other essential time-to-market accelerators in this newly created position.
“We’re expanding our portfolio of foundry-development services, so we needed an executive with a strong background in building and managing a high value-add, service-oriented business in the semiconductor industry. Jack strongly fits that mold,” said Bert Bruggeman, SVTC’s vice president of operations. “Our customers will quickly realize benefits in overall development cycle-time now that he’s on board, driving the deployment of these new services.”
SVTC also announced today that customers now will have access to its new atomic-force microscope (AFM) and a transmission electron microscope (TEM). And, it has recently expanded into an 80,000-square-foot facility, where Blaha will work. (See related press release entitled “SVTC Expands Analytical and Engineering Services.”)
Blaha joins SVTC from the Metron Equipment Group, a division of Applied Materials’ Metron Technology semiconductor services subsidiary where he managed product development, engineering and process and technical support for several product lines since 2006. Blaha spent seven years altogether at Applied, where he held a succession of management positions.
Before working in industry, Blaha was a US Army ranger and captain in the Army Signal Corps. He is an economics graduate of the United States Military Academy at West Point, and also holds an MBA from the Haas School of Business, University of California-Berkeley.
